There are no adverse affects in grinding the crank as long as you get the crankshaft re-nitride hardened after the cranks been turned/ground. I've read were ppl say you can't do this.....fact is, they are wrong. The factory hardness depth is only approximately .006-.010" which when the cranks are tuned they are turned most of the time to minimum of .010" (.25mm)
